By Staff -- Gifts and Dec, 11/2/2009 11:46:00 AM

Ian FalconerLONDON and NEW YORK—With Ian Falconer’s children’s book heroine Olivia going big time with a new TV series and amped up licensing efforts, licensor Chorion has signed a deal with TysToxBox.com for an online shop focused on the property.

The Ty's Toy Box site features new Olivia products, including Ty’s Toy Box-exclusive personalized T-shirts, existing Olivia DVDs and a soon-to-debut series of TV tie-in books from Simon & Schuster.

"We are thrilled to join Olivia in her grand adventures," said Ty Simpson, CEO of Brand Performance, parent company of Ty's Toy Box.

In addition, Chorion is also launching an official Olivia website, www.myolivia.com, this month for children and parents. It will feature games, printables and information on Olivia and her new computer animated 3-D television series, which debuted recently in the U.S. on Nickelodeon and on Treehouse in Canada.

Spin Master is on board as global master toy partner for the property and will develop a range of preschool girl's toys for rollout in autumn 2010.

Kids products that combine high play value and a design sensibility that blends with mom and dad's house are sure winners for specialty shops, who can market themselves as an alternative to cheap plastic imports and their problematic safety records.
