Charion bulks up licensing team with veteran hires

By Staff -- Gifts and Dec, 2/11/2010 4:32:00 AM

NEW YORK and LONDON—Children’s programmer Chorion is expanding its executive team with the appointment of two seasoned licensing executives.

Tamra Knepfer has been named Executive Vice President, Brand Management & Marketing. She will be responsible for overseeing brand strategy, marketing and creative for Chorion’s brands worldwide. She joins the company with nearly 20 years of experience in consumer products, marketing and licensing in the children’s entertainment industry, including posts at American Greetings Properties, Sesame Workshop, Mommy and Me Enterprises and The Walt Disney Co.

Steve Cipolla has been tapped as Executive Vice President, Global Licensing & Sales. He will oversee Chorion’s global licensing and retail teams and develop new opportunities for the company’s growing portfolio of brands. The posting is the latest stop in a 20-plus year career in consumer products that most recently saw Cipolla serve as Vice President and General Manager for ESPN Consumer Products.

“The appointments of Steve and Tamra have strengthened our management team as we look towards expansion in the coming year. They both have impressive track records in international brand management and I have every confidence that they will be a great asset to Chorion as we continue to build our global franchises,” said Waheed Alli, Chorion’s chairman.

Last week, the London-based company added a retail development veteran to its executive suite.
