Spin Master births entertainment division

CANNES, France—Spin Master announced at this week’s MIPCOM Jr children’s programming event that it is launching Spin Master Entertainment, a division of the toymaker focused on the design, development and production of cross-media entertainment properties.

Spin Master Entertainment's initial focus will be the development and production of new entertainment properties based on original content, co-production and the development of its own proprietary brands. It will be lead by a troika of executive producers: Matt Wexler, the toymaker’s “resident entertainment industry ambassador”; Adam Beder, Spin Master’s vice president of global licensing; and company chairman and co-CEO Ronnen Harary.

"This is a new business channel for us and we're looking to create fresh, original entertainment content, not toy commercials," says Wexler.  "We are looking for projects with unique creative vision, global appeal, and as always, different is best."

The criteria the company will use in evaluating new projects will follow Spin Master's “recipe for success in bringing fun to kids, but is not tied exclusively to merchandising appeal,” according to the company.
