Babies R Us arrives in Hawaii

WAYNE, N.J.—Toys R Us will open its first Babies R Us store in Hawaii on Friday, September 18.

The store, located at 1150 Kuala Street in Pearl City, will employ approximately 70 people. It is the 263rd Babies R Us store in the nation. 

“We are so pleased to open our first Babies R Us location in Hawaii, adding to our growing portfolio of stores that offer the broadest assortment of products kids need at prices to fit every budget,” said Jerry Storch, Chairman and CEO, Toys R Us Inc. “With more than 10,000 babies born in Honolulu County each year, we look forward to being part of the lives of new and expectant parents in the area.”

To celebrate its grand opening, the Pearl City store will featuring Story Time throughout its first weekend of operation and Mommy & Me Music Time on opening morning. Visits from favorite costumed characters will take place throughout the weekend.

Prior to the store’s opening on September 18, Reverend Richard Kamanu of Kaumakapili Church will join company officials to offer a traditional new business dedication and Hawaiian blessing for the first Babies R Us location in Hawaii.

In conjunction with the grand opening, the Toys R Us Children’s Fund, a public charity affiliated with Toys R Us Inc., will award $5,000 to the Newborn Intensive Care Unit  at Kapi’olani Medical Center for Women & Children. 

Toys R Us' lone toy store in Hawaii is located in nearby Aiea.
