Walmart rolls out 'Garanimals' toy line

By Staff -- Gifts and Dec, 11/17/2009 12:59:00 PM

WalmartNEW YORK—Walmart today added a line of exclusive Garanimals branded play and learning toys to its stores.

The line features age appropriate toys for infants, toddlers and preschool children that come brightly packaged with many of the same animal characters featured on Garanimals brand mix-and-match children’s apparel.

“The new line is a part of Walmart’s effort to enhance our preschool toy assortment and provide a new selection of quality toys that many moms will remember from their youth, with a superior value in comparison to specialty stores,” said Laura Phillips, Walmart’s Vice President of Toys.

Among the line’s debut assortment are an $8 Pull-Apart Shape Sorter, a $10 set of ABC Wood Blocks, a $10 Bath Boat with squirters, $3 Easy Grab wooden puzzles and a $29 5-in-1 Learning Cube, an 18-inch cube “packed with assorted skills for dexterity.”

The Garanimals toys follow the introduction in 2008 of Walmart’s exclusive line of Garanimals kids apparel.

The retailer plans a multi-million dollar television advertising campaign this fall and holiday to support the brand.

Garanimals is a division of Garan Inc., a unit of apparel maker Berkshire Hathaway.
