NEW YORK—Richard Dickson, head of Mattel’s Barbie business, is leaving the toymaker to head to clothing retailer Jones Apparel Group as president and CEO, JAG said today.
Dickson, 41, joined Mattel in 2000 as Senior Vice President, Marketing, Media & Entertainment Worldwide, Mattel Brands. In 2008 he was tapped to oversee a newly reorganized Barbie business as General Manager for the overall Barbie brand. He’s widely recognized for revitalizing the iconic doll line and its licensing.
Prior to Mattel, Dickson held leadership, general management and merchandising posts at Bloomingdales and at Estee Lauder Companies, which in 2000 purchased an ecommerce site, Gloss.com, that Dickson had launched.
Dickson's move to JAG is effective Feb. 8.
