NEW YORK—The Toy Industry Foundation has launched a national partnership with Boys & Girls Clubs of America to provide toys to the children of active duty and reserve members of the US military.
Through its The Toy Bank program, TIF will provide toys and gifts to members of Boys & Girls Clubs located on military bases across the country with high deployment rates. The initiative includes grant funding from the Foundation and will be its first-ever national toy distribution program to canvas every branch of the military.
"On behalf of the entire toy industry, we're proud to join forces with Boys & Girls Clubs of America to bring the comfort of play to the sons and daughters of our brave service personnel," said Jean Butler, the TIF’s executive director. “It is our hope that toys given at this representative event and throughout the partnership will help to alleviate the war-related anxieties that these young heroes experience.”
The new partnership, which has the potential to reach more than 350,000 children nation-wide, will launch this holiday season with a toy distribution event at Walter Reed Medical Center in Washington, D.C., on Tuesday, December 15. More than 150 military family members are expected to attend, TIF said.
