CELEBRATIONS

C.R. Gibson Celebrates 140 Years

C.R. Gibson, a charter member of the National Stationery Show and exhibitor for more than 60 years, is celebrating a milestone 140th anniversary. The company began as a printer of birth and marriage certificates. From its simple beginnings, the company has grown to become a leading manufacturer of gifts that commemorate life’s celebrations, including memory books, social stationery and journals. Today’s C.R. Gibson has four brands under its umbrella: Markings journals, photo books and stationery; Tapestry scrapbooking and craft products; Creative Papers fine stationery and iota stationery and gifting essentials.

OTHER STATIONERY COMPANIES MARKING ANNIVERSARIES:

• Hallmark Marks 100 Years. In spite of fire, wars, flood and economic downturns, the company founded by J.C. Hall and his brother Rollie grew from selling simple postcards and greeting cards into an industry giant.

• Nobleworks Turns 30. Nobleworks, known as “The Humor Company,” turns 30. The company made its debut at the NSS in 1980. Founded by Christopher Noble and Jay Purvis, Nobleworks continues to keep customers laughing under the leadership of Ron Kanfi.

• Anne Taintor is 25. Having grown from a one-woman company to multi-million dollar enterprise, Anne Taintor Inc. is celebrating its silver anniversary by launching a model search (a search to identify the Taintorette models that grace its products).

Kidding Around

Kids products that combine high play value and a design sensibility that blends with mom and dad's house are sure winners for specialty shops, who can market themselves as an alternative to cheap plastic imports and their problematic safety records.

EcoGreen

Green products have become more of a staple now. The products are not only good for the environment, today's collections also boast great design.

Just for Fun

Vendors' sense of fun was evident this summer with many offering light-hearted and fun accessories for the home and for the self.
