NYIGF To Sponsor Craft Week

By Staff -- Gifts and Dec, 5/20/2010 9:06:00 AM

Charlotte, NC — The New York International Gift Fair signed on to be a sponsor of American Craft Week, a project of the Craft Retailers and Artisans for Tomorrow (CRAFT), and Craft in America, a nonprofit organization dedicated to the preservation of craft and the celebration of its impact on our nation’s cultural heritage. NYIGF joins The American Craft Council, AmericanStyle magazine, The Artful Home and WholesaleCrafts.com in providing financial and promotional support for this event. American Craft Week is scheduled to take place October 1–10.

“We are delighted to welcome NYIGF as a partner in our efforts to promote broad consumer awareness of American craft across the country. The NYIGF’s Handmade Designer/Maker division is an important meeting place for many craft artisans and retail buyers. This will provide a wonderful opportunity for us to spread the word about American Craft Week to these potential participants,” said Carol Sauvion, American Craft Week co-chair.

NYIGF will host a free American Craft Week Tutorial and Brown Bag Lunch on August 14 during the fair. American Craft Week organizers will share ideas for events that artists, galleries and craft retailers can do to be a part of this national project. CRAFT and American Craft Week will also have exhibit space at the show in the new NYIGF Handmade section.

NYIGF is scheduled for August 14–19.
