Top execs have positive outlook for licensing industry

LAS VEGAS - Executives from Disney, Hasbro, Mattel, Toys‘R'Us and LF USA discussed the state and outlook of the licensing industry during a keynote panel conducted by the International Licensing Merchandisers' Association on the opening day of Licensing International Expo.

The panelists were:

  • Andy Mooney, chairman, Disney Consumer Products
  • Neil Friedman, president, Mattel Brands
  • John Frascotti, global chief marketing officer, Hasbro, Inc.
  • Karen Dodge, SVP, chief merchandising officer, Toys‘R'Us, Inc.
  • Rick Darling, president, LF USA

The speakers agreed that while today's competitive retail landscape is challenging, there are opportunities for growth and success. They stressed to the crowd of more than 700 the ongoing need for strong partnerships among IP owners, vendors and retailers, the importance of connecting with consumers using social media and involving consumers in product development, and the continuing need for strong standards and guidelines on product safety.
