Waterford Reopens in Hometown

Waterford, Ireland — House of Waterford Crystal opened today on the Mall in Waterford City. The new facility contains manufacturing, a visitor center and a retail outlet. The latter will represent the largest display of Waterford Crystal anywhere in the world.
The opening is the result of an agreement between WWRD Holdings Limited and Waterford City Council.
The House of Waterford Crystal will employ 79 full-time and 33 part-time staff, with a further 30-40 temporary staff during peak season, and will annually produce about 40,000 handcrafted, high-end pieces using traditional methods. The manufacturing facility contains a brand new continuous melt tank furnace that is tailor-made to Waterford Crystal's specifications, which will produce two tonnes of molten crystal every day. It will also act as a central laboratory for Waterford Crystal's designers.
Exhibits will include a replica of the Waterford Times Square Ball, a collection of exclusive Waterford Sport trophies, Statement Design pieces and the Faces and Places Exhibit, showcasing specially- commissioned Waterford Crystal pieces that have been presented to famous celebrities, presidents and dignitaries.
