Russ Berrie to open Vegas showroom

Playthings Staff -- Gifts and Dec, 7/9/2010 12:49:00 PM

SAN DIEGO - Russ Berrie U.S. Gift has announced plans for a permanent showroom in World Market Center in Las Vegas. At the upcoming market on Aug. 2-6, the company will exhibit in a 9,000-sq.-ft. temporary location at C-796.

The showroom at World Market Center will be the fifth permanent exhibit space for Russ. Its other corporate showrooms are located in Chicago, Atlanta, Seattle and Los Angeles. Chairman Eldridge C. Hanes said that the company's entry into the expanding World Market Center is in line with projected growth for Russ.

"We are looking forward to being part of this extraordinary facility, and it bodes well for our industry as a whole," he said. "We have measured our corporate expansion through acquisition and licensing, and it will be exciting to present our best line ever to a worldwide audience. With international offices around the world, we will now have another major showroom to welcome international buyers. We believe Las Vegas will be an excellent showcase for Russ."

"Our vision for World Market Center Las Vegas is a total home marketplace. The Gift + Home show really brings that vision to fruition," said Robert Maricich, president and CEO of World Market Center Las Vegas. "Russ is among the most recognized leaders in the industry and we are very proud that they have committed to World Market Center with a significant showroom. They have exciting plans for their space, which we believe will serve as a major destination for gift buyers who attend our markets."

In addition to its numerous trade and consumer brands - including Yomiko Plush and Applause, Russ also designs and markets products under various artist, lifestyle, and sports licenses. Together with a collection of well-known consumer licenses such as Barbie, Curious George, Raggedy Ann and Andy, and Corduroy, Russ has expanded its franchise from specialty markets into a broad array of additional channels of distribution. Licensors currently represented in multiple categories are Thomas Kinkade, Coca-Cola, David T. Sands, Harley-Davidson, Disney, and John Deere.
