NEW YORK - Emily dons her cape and mask, just in the nick of time for 2010 San Diego Comic-Con. Global licensing agency Gator Group has announced that Cosmic Debris and Ashton-Drake, a division of Bradford Exchange known for its premium-quality collectible dolls, plan to release a custom-designed Emily the Strange doll.

Emily the Strange DollOutfitted with a reversible cape, mask and kitty-cat ears, this is one 13-year-old who knows how to be herself in style. With the words "Save Yourself" emblazoned on her cape, the new doll features nine points of articulation for striking all manner of heroic poses. The doll also comes with a feline super-sidekick who will also be sporting a costume. This 2010 exclusive has a limited-edition run of 250 pieces, and will be on sale in select booths during the convention, as well as online to Emily's Facebook Fans. The doll will retail for $69.99.

"Just like a lot of girls, Emily enjoys dressing up and exploring her imagination," said Rob Reger, Emily the Strange creator. "Comic-Con is the perfect place for Emily to reveal her not-so-secret alter-ego - and this is a doll that captures that spirit."

Created as a skate icon in 1993, Emily the Strange has become a global phenomenon and the personification of independence and individuality, particularly with tween and teen girls. This eternal 13-year-old and her four black cats have graced the pages of Dark Horse comics since 2005 and she currently inspires a series of teen novels from HarperTeen, an imprint of HarperCollins.

"There are many dimensions to Emily the Strange," said Sarah Montgomery, marketing manager for Ashton-Drake Galleries. "From mad genius to musical prodigy to masked righter of wrongs, she gives her fans permission to be what they truly want to be. We are proud to offer great products like this one that spark the imagination in the same way."

Find Emily the Strange at Comic-Con San Diego in the following booth locations: Emily the Strange (booth 4639), Dark Horse Comics (booth 2615), Chronicle Books (booth 1506-1508), and HarperCollins Publishers (booth 1318).
