REA Winning Store for Sale

Susan Dickenson, Home Accents Today staff -- Gifts and Dec, 9/1/2010 3:05:13 PM

Suwanee, GA  — Christi Tullis and Pamela Reeves have decided to sell their historic property and business, Ambiance Interiors & Gifts, to pursue other interests.
A 130-year-old pink house surrounded by lush gardens and 150-year-old oak trees is bound to have a certain ambiance. Polish it up a bit with glossy interiors, neoclassical trimwork and crisp window treatments and you're ready to share it with guests. Fill it with ladies lunching, prissy pooches and an extensive selection of gifts, furniture and accessories, and you're in the business - of Ambiance. Located about 20 miles north of Atlanta in historic Suwanee, GA, Ambiance Interiors & Gifts is owned by mother-daughter duo Pamela Reeves and Christi Tullis. Since moving to their current location in 1999 they've firmly established Ambiance as the local source for elegant, exotic and exquisite merchandise, with a reputation and personality to match... That story continues here, but a new one is about to begin.
Now, the 13-room, 130-year-old house is for sale, along with a carriage house and an acre of gardens and 150-year-old oak trees surrounding it all. The 4,500-sq.-ft. building is located at 580 Buford Highway in Suwanee and the spot has been designated as the starting corner for the south entrance of Historic Suwanee on the city's 2030 Comprehensive Master Plan.

Ambiance's list of awards and honors has grown to include two ARTS Awards for excellence in home accents retailing; Gwinnett's "Best of Best" for Interior Design (voted by Gwinnett Magazine for eight consecutive years); national recognition as a Southern Living magazine Favorite Shopping Experience; Gifts & Decorative Accessories Retailer Excellence Gold Award for Marketing; Home Accents Today Retail Star.

The new owners will get the inventory, brand, logos, Web address and Christi's ongoing services as a consultant. Christi said store manager Mary Orr also hopes to "remain a part of the Pink House that she's so passionate for."

Many of you may recognize Christi as a social media speaker and consultant who works with retailers in the gift, home, furniture and apparel industries. In recent months her reach has expanded to include clients in the medical, personal care and real estate arenas, and she has decided to grow her social media management business on the West Coast, with Las Vegas as her base of operations.

Pamela has decided to retire from the retail business to pursue her love for traveling and interior design and personal wellness/healthy lifestyle consulting.

Both ladies hope Ambiance will continue as a home, gift and apparel boutique, but they also say unless they can assure their customers and clientele that they're leaving them in the best of hands, they won't sell the business portion.

Yesterday during a brief phone chat I invited Christi to share her marketing spiel: "The business is built with over 1,500 wholesale accounts from every spectrum of the gift, home, apparel, flooring, wall-covering and contracting markets. The Ambiance reputation is like no other, and the polka-dotted pink brand is well recognized throughout the U.S. There is major potential for e-commerce sales opportunities as well as national and global franchise opportunities. There are over 10,000 active customer accounts and new walk-ins everyday. Plus, it's in a prominent location in the heart of historic Suwanee."

And what about Dottie, the store's polka-dotted Hummer? She left Suwanee last Thursday for Las Vegas, where she will be rebranded for Christi's new social media marketing business.

The listing agent for the property is Dominai Webb, Dominai@DominaiWebb.com.
