Gemmy brings new life to butterflies

Retail Editor 1 -- Gifts and Dec, 9/2/2010 1:16:00 PM

CGemmy ButterfliesOPPELL, Texas - Gemmy Industries, maker of high-end animatronics and innovative technology, introduces its Butterfly Collection series, which creates a convincing illusion of a natural butterfly.

"We're very proud to bring this unique product to the public," Jason McCann, president of Gemmy Industries said. "It is a fusion of emerging technology, sleight-of-hand, and the innovation that Gemmy is known for. The result is truly amazing."

Gemmy's Butterfly Collection is a series of mechanical butterflies in old-fashioned glass jars. The ‘butterfly' inside the jar flutters and flies around the inside of the jar with true-to-life motion, giving the impression of a real butterfly, even when viewed up close.

The patented technology at the core of the product creates movement within the jar that appears to be truly random. The user may also direct the butterfly to flap or flutter its wings on command by tapping in a pre-programmed sequence on the jar or lid.

There are four different species of butterfly to choose from in the first Butterfly Collection series: the Monarch, Yellow Swallow-Tail, Blue Morpho and the fantasy-inspired Pink Morpho.

"The concept behind this product is revolutionary," McCann said. "We feel that it offers consumers a magical effect unlike any other that's currently available."

Butterfly Collection will be in stores nationwide in Q3 of 2010.
