Sage Award Nomination Deadline is Sept. 10

Finalists to be Announced at High Point Market

Heath E Combs -- Gifts and Dec, 9/3/2010 3:01:17 PM

High Point, NC — Nominations are open through Sept. 10 for the 2010 Sage Award, which honors companies in the home furnishings and bedding industries using sustainable business practices.

The award program, in its third year, was developed by the American Home Furnishings Alliance and is sponsored by Cargill's BiOH polyols.

Nominees may include suppliers, manufacturers, retailers or designers of finished home furnishings or bedding. Nominees do not have to be AHFA members or users of Cargill's BiOH polyols.

There is no cost to enter. An online entry form and guidelines are posted at www.SageAward.org.

Nominees must show leadership and progress in reducing their company's environmental footprint and expanding its positive social impact while running a profitable business.

Three finalists will be announced during the High Point Market in October. Each will receive a customized video spotlighting their environmental accomplishments that remains on the Sage Award Web site for a year. The winner will be celebrated Dec. 1 during the AHFA's Sustainability Summit at the Hilton Asheville Biltmore Park in Asheville, N.C.

Each finalist also will receive a free registration to the Summit. The winner also will receive a $2,500 check from Cargill to donate to a nonprofit environmental effort or group of his or her choice.

Entries will be judged by a panel of journalists and experts from inside and outside the home furnishings industry.
