Borders to Open Holiday Pop-Up Stores

GDA Staff -- Gifts and Dec, 9/28/2010 7:11:43 PM

Ann Arbor, MI — Chain book retailer, Borders Group will open 25 pop-up Borders Express stores across the country for the holiday season. The shops are expected to officially open October 25 and operate through January 31, 2011. Each seasonal store will be an average of about 2,500 sq. ft. In addition to a selection of top titles and new releases, each store will offer a range of other merchandise including Halloween and holiday-themed items, a selection of kids books, plush and toys as well as an assortment of e-Readers and related accessories.
"The majority of these stores are located in malls where we had a presence at one time," said Mike Edwards, CEO of Borders, Inc. "Where it didn't make business sense for us to operate stores on a permanent basis in these areas, we can open a seasonal store and serve the holiday."

Stores will be located in California, Arizona, New Jersey, Georgia, Iowa, Massachusetts, Illinois, Michigan, Minnesota, New Hampshire, New York, Ohio, Texas, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin and Virginia.
