Columbus MarketPlace to Relocate
GDA Staff -- Gifts and Dec, 11/30/2010 12:53:58 PM
Columbus, OH - The Columbus MarketPlace is leaving its current Westbelt location, where it has been for more than 30 years, and moving to a former shopping center in an upscale area of Dublin (northwest Columbus). According to the MarketPlace staff, the new location features plenty of parking and a large selection of restaurants and hotels within walking distance.
The details of how long it will take to get the new location up and running are not yet finalized, but executive director Karen Knies says, "We are trying for a January show with a grand opening in March." Knies also told Gifts & Decorative Accessories, "My best estimate is that the majority of people that are here now will move with us but I do not have a list for you at this time."
The MarketPlace may experience downtime on its website and phones during the relocation process, and so recommends that those who want up to the minute news visit the MarketPlace on Facebook.
This is happening across the country. The regional mart model is dying. It is being replaced by a combination of web and reps. Don't be surprised if this never materializes as people suspect.
proretailer - 2010-12-01 17:57:41 ESTI am very happy to hear the mart will have a new home. For us smaller hospital gift shops, traveling to Atlanta or other shows is not an option. Thank you for the past 30 years and looking forward to many more.
Sherry Miller - 2010-12-01 10:48:51 ESTThanks to all of our Reps who have kept us up to date on the demise and progress of the Columbus Mart. We are looking forward to visiting the New Mart and continuing our relationships with our Vendors. See you in March!

Those of us in Ohio love and appreciate our Columbus Mart reps, who will come to our stores whenever asked and fill in orders, call us when something we should have comes out (they have been to our businesses, so they know!), and the show is the least expensive of all shows to do. Rock on and we will be at your new digs! Marilyn
