Washington, DC - The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in cooperation with Pacific Trade Intl., voluntarily
recalled over 600,000 sets of tea lights and tea lights sold with holders, or about 7.5 million candles. They were sold under the brand names Chesapeake Bay Candle and Modern Light.
The clear plastic cup can melt or ignite, posing a fire and burn hazard. Only tea lights that do not have any lettering imprinted on the bottom of the tea light cup are included in this recall. A list of the recalled assortments can be found here.
Pacific Trade has received one report of the plastic cup melting while in use. No injuries or property damage have been reported.
COO Dale Williams told Gifts & Decorative Accessories, "We have never had a product recall in our company's [17 year] history, but we chose to address this single incident with an over-abundance of caution. We took the initiative to participate in a voluntary recall because of long record of consumer safety and our responsibility to uphold the highest quality standards for our brands."
We would love your feedback!
