Small Business Owners Push for Swipe Fee Reform

Washington, DC - More than 50 small business owners from across the country distributed free coffee outside metro
stations in Washington during the morning rush hour to remind Congress about their desire for debit card swipe fee reform.
"Under the current system, I lose less money just giving the coffee away. I think there is something really wrong with that," said Dennis Lane, 7-Eleven franchisee and national spokesman for Reform Swipe Fees NOW!
Following the coffee drive, they marched to Capitol Hill to conduct face-to-face meetings with their elected representatives.
Congress is considering legislation in both the House and the Senate that would stall previously passed reforms before they take effect - a move that Reform Swipe Fees NOW says would cost small businesses and consumers $33 million per day.
