Monroe, NJ - Sydney Rosen, who developed what is now the multi-million dollar company Rose Art Industries, died
Thursday, June 2 at the age of 94.
Rosen began working for the company, created by his father Isidor, when it was still known as Rosebud Art Company. Rosen began as an inventor and, after his father's retirement, came to lead the company as president.
He spent the rest of his life working in the toy industry, receiving an award in 2003 from the Toy Manufacturers of America for "Outstanding leadership, Dedication and Commitments for 65 years." Until his death, Rosen served as chairman emeritus of La Rose Industries (also known as Cra-Z-Art), which was founded by his son Lawrence in 2008. The company boasts retail sales over $100 million.
After the death of his wife and long-time business partner Muriel in 2009, Rosen suffered a stroke and experienced a decline in health. He spent the remainder of his life at Green Hill Skilled Nursing Facility in West Orange, NJ.
