LIMA Names International Licensing Excellence Award Winners

Last Vegas - The International Licensing Industry Merchandisers' Association presented 15 winners with the International Licensing Excellence Award at the Licensing International Expo 2011.

The awards, which honor the most successful licensed properties, involve seven categories: Art/Design, Character/Toy, Corporate, Film/Television/Celebrity/Entertainment, Sports, Promotion and Retailer.

In the Art/Design category, the winners include Victoria and Albert Museum, for Best Art/Design Program, and Dom Perignon, for Best Art/Design License.

Hello Kitty dominated the Character/Toy Brand category, winning Best/Toy Brand Program with Sanrio Inc., Best Character/Toy Brand Licensee with HARDGOODS - Smart USA and Best Character/Toy Brand Licensee with SOFT Goods - Loungefly.

In Corporate, Discovery Communications/The Joester Loria Group won Best Corporate Program, for Animal planet; Shabby Chic for Simply Shabby Chic at Target won Best Corporate Brand Licensee.

The winners in Film/Television/Celebrity/Entertainment are The Walt Disney Company's Toy Story 3 for Best Film, Television, Celebrity or Entertainment Program; HARD GOODS - LEGO's Harry Potter for Best Film, Television, Celebrity or Entertainment Licensee; and SOFT GOODS - Awake Inc.'s Glee for Best Film, Television, Celebrity or Entertainment License.

For Sports and Sports-themed Entertaiment, the winners are NASCAR Team Properties for Best Sports Program; Ultimate Fighting Championship (by JAKKS Pacific Inc.) for Best Sports Licensee.

Dove Glee by Twentieth Century Fox Film Corp won Best Licensed Promotion, and Strictly Come Dancing (by Boots) won Best Retailer, marking the first retailer outside of the U.S. to be honored.

Toy Story 3 not only won in the entertainment category but also as the Best Licensed Program of the Year.
