NPD Group Reports Increased Toy and Games Sales for Q1 ‘17

U.S. sales of toys and games were on the increase during the first quarter, as reported by The NPD Group.
Sales increases across several additional categories were reported by NPD: Dolls (+6 percent), Infant/Toddler/Preschool Toys (+4 percent), Outdoor & Sports Toys (+3 percent), Plush (+7 percent), and Vehicles (+2 percent). Three categories saw declines: Building Sets (-10 percent), Action Figures & Accessories (-9 percent), and Arts & Crafts (-4 percent).
The provided data is representative of retailers that participate in The NPD Group's Retail Tracking Service, which represents approximately 80 percent of the U.S. retail market for Toys. When factoring up to 100 percent for a total annual market figure, NPD estimates the U.S. market size for the total toy industry to be at about $26.5 billion.
