SpongeBob SquarePants Musical Coming to Broadway

SpongeBob SquarePantsSpongeBob SquarePants is coming to Broadway this fall.
NEW YORK, NY -- Trading his pineapple under the sea for a spot on the Great White Way, SpongeBob SquarePants will open on Broadway at the Palace Theatre this fall. Following a critically lauded run in Chicago during Summer 2016,the musical will be in previews beginning Monday, November 6, with an official opening set for Monday, December 4.

President of the Nickelodeon Group, Cyma Zarghami, said: “We could not be more thrilled to bring Nickelodeon’s iconic SpongeBob SquarePants to the theater in an original musical conceived specifically for Broadway. We are also incredibly honored to be in such a gorgeous house as The Palace, where audiences will be immersed in the fun and surprising world of Bikini Bottom.”

President of The Nederlander Organization, James L. Nederlander said: “We are very happy to welcome Nickelodeon and SpongeBob SquarePants to Broadway. The Palace is the perfect size and scale for this new musical, and we couldn’t be more thrilled to open our doors to it.”

SpongeBob SquarePants cast will include Ethan Slateras SpongeBob SquarePants, Gavin Lee asSquidward, Lilli Cooperas Sandy Cheeks andDanny SkinnerasPatrick. The full cast will be announced at a later date.

SpongeBob SquarePants is a musical production conceived and directed by Tina Landau, book byKyle Jarrow, orchestrations, arrangements and music supervision by Tom Kitt, with choreography byChristopher Gattelli.

SpongeBob SquarePants will be produced by Nickelodeon with The Araca Group, Sony Music Masterworks and Kelp on the Road.
