Two's Co. Opens First Retail Concept Store
GDA Staff -- Gifts and Dec, 10/17/2011 1:02:19 PM
Elmsford, NY - Gift and decorative accessories vendor Two's Company opened its first retail concept store in
Greenwich, CT, on October 15. The 1,500-sq.-ft. store is similar to its flagship New York wholesale showroom in 7West, and will feature products from the company's four brands: Two's Company, Tozai Home, Cupcakes and Cartwheels and 2 Chic.
"I feel the concept store will allow Two's Company to better understand the challenges and rigors that our retail partners face in today's economic environment and gives us the opportunity to test new products and collections," said Tom Zimmerman, vice president of sales and marketing. "We expect to gain insight on what affects our business paradigm has on our own retailers."
A grand opening party will be held in early November.
Boooooo to Two's Company. Competition is one thing, but competing with the company who you are purchasing from is another.
Forget this! Atlanta market in January we will definatly be looking for ways to replace Two's Company in our store. Just because some other wholesalers have done this does this make it correct?
Enjoy loosing your large base of retail stores who have supported you for years!

One more vendor or manufacturer competing against their retail stores who have supported them, Instead of using the excuse of using their concept store for sell thru info, how about using your sales reps. As for my store, we will seriously start looking for other vendors to replace Two's Company.Slicing the pie into smaller pieces only makes it more difficult to achieve a profit. With the growing use from consumers using online purchasing it will not matter where a flagship store is located - they will most likely be offering online purchasing direct to the consumer and therfore THEY ARE COMPITITION.
margie drake - 2011-11-13 11:56:39 ESTDo you take that self important arrogant attitude on the road with you? "Hey you if don't sell the product then dump it, and besides you don't sell enough for me to care". Love it. Keep up the good work Mike.
Mike Smith too - 2011-10-25 19:50:57 EDTi wouldnt have a problem with that. go to a mall. there is hallmark, yankee etc all selling the same product. and they all make it
like i said quit looking for excuses. pay attention to what is selling in your store.you are not gonna stop and expansion by any stores. whether online or brick and mortar. this is just competition. . if they do open a
store in your area and your sales decline dump them otherwise continue selling their product if that is what you want to do. the bottom line is if the product sells great for you sell it if it doesnt replace the product in your store with other product that sells equally as well. the other advantage is that with the ever increasing decline of the gift shop there are not as many outlets as there were say 5 years ago even 3 years ago. and it will not get better it will get worse.the days of "sallys gift shop" or "sallys country store are over". the targets of the world and walmarts have the home decor and plush. so, every one of these twos company stores are searching for the answer. and no pandora and yankee and vera will not regret their decision to go retail and wholesale. hallmark has been doing it for a long time. go in the average hallmark they have every vera bradley bag ever made.chances are the twos company line is in every store possible in your town anyway since the reps are under pressure anyway. chances are you dont buy enough from twos company for them to care. since they have targeted your area as underachieving which is probably why they are opening a store in the first place.

Nice company line "Mike Smith" So if you are a retailer in Greenwich you should be totally fine with them opening a competing retail store on your block. The question becomes are they a wholesaler or retailer? Where do their loyalties lie when they decide to open 50 stores in key markets? Certainly not with their base of small retailers but with their own stores. Vera and Pandora will find out in the coming years that the distribution network they had was a pretty valuable commodity they traded for short term profit and gain. Same lesson many companies learned from forging deals with Home Depot, Wal Mart and others.
