Mattel Donates 25,000 Toys to the Toy Industry Foundation

GDA Staff -- Gifts and Dec, 12/20/2011 2:57:43 PM

New York - Toymaker Mattel recently donated 25,000 toys to the Toy Industry Foundation (TIF), a nonprofit organization providing toys to children in need. Mattel's gift included Barbie dolls, games, action figures and educational toys, valued at more than $375,000. Donations to the Toy Bank support the Foundation's mission to introduce tools of play to children living in poverty, rescued from abuse, seeking treatment for chronic illnesses, and going through many other difficult situations.
As a partner of the Toy Industry Foundation, Mattel Inc. has been a consistent Toy Bank donor since the program's inception in 2003. The company also helps to support the Foundation's Play Comforts partnership with Boys & Girls Clubs of America Military Services.
"With a shared commitment to truly making a difference, the Foundation is pleased to make play possible for tens of thousands of children in need with Mattel by our side," said Jean Butler, executive director of the Toy Industry Foundation. "Their contribution to the Toy Bank in 2011 represents just a fraction of the number of playthings that they have donated to the Foundation in the past nine years. We are extraordinarily grateful for their support."
