Goliath Acquires JAX; Broadens Games Portfolio

GoliathMINNEAPOLIS, MN and HATTEM, THE NETHERLANDS –– The games category has just doubled its pleasure, thank to Goliath’s acquisition of JAX Ltd., Inc. JAX will continue to operate out of its Plymouth, Minn. offices, and the Levine family will remain in their leadership roles.

“I am very happy to welcome JAX into the Goliath family,” said Adi Golad, Goliath’s founder. “Having been friends with the Levine family for decades, we’re excited to finally do business together. Both of our companies share similar origins of using grassroots promotion to build games from the ground up. Globally, Sequence will be a great fit with our other evergreen titles such as Rummikub and Tri-ominos.”

“We are very pleased to join Goliath and look forward to sharing the success of our games with them,” said Cindy Levine. David Norman, President of Goliath Games, LLC added, “JAX will continue to produce its own products and maintain its brand while enjoying the benefit of Goliath’s significant global resources, including R&D, logistics, TV and digital marketing campaigns. I look forward to sharing their great story with consumers everywhere.”

Founded in 1980, Goliath is one of the few remaining family-owned global toy and game companies. The company has continued to see substantial growth with the acquisitions of Pressman in the USA, Crown & Andrews in Australia, Modelco in France and Elephanta in New Zealand. Goliath products now sell in more than 75 countries worldwide, and the company has offices in the Netherlands, Belgium, France, Spain, Portugal, Germany, Poland, Hong Kong, Australia, New Zealand, USA and Canada.

JAX was also founded in 1980 by entrepreneur Zelman Levine (also known for leading Lakeside Toys which developed Gumby, Barrel of Monkeys, and Aggravation). Over the past 38 years, JAX has developed hundreds of critically acclaimed toys and games and is best known for its development of the Sequence brand of games, as well as games such as Doodle Dice, Kings in the Corner and Solitaire Frenzy.
