UPDATE: Vendors Cope with "Sandy" Damage and Business Disruption

Pretty Ugly Office/Warehouse Destroyed; Schmutzerland orders delayed

METRO NEW YORK AND NEW JERSEY - Vendors affected by the recent superstorm Sandy are beginning to report in and notify customers of their status. Among those reporting in so far are inspirational giftware company The Universe Knows, based in Plainview, NY, as well as fashion jewelry company Schmutzerland, based in Nutley, NJ, and Pretty Ugly, based in Edison, NJ.

The Universe Knows has had limited power and heat, and computer operations. While the company continues to pack orders, it is unavble to ship them at this time due to system outages. It anticipates being back fully operational by the beginning of next week, if not sooner. If you have any questions or concerns about an order email the company.

Schmutzerland has been without power or phone service since the height of the storm, and reports that it should be operational again within three days. "We will get all of your orders out as soon as possible," Dave Rubin writes. "We thank you for your understanding and hope to hear from all of you soon."

Pretty Ugly LLC, known for its UglyDolls, had its headquarter offices and warehouse in Edison, NJ, completely flooded and destroyed. "The storm has taken out absolutely everything including our phones, electricity, computers, etc. Nothing at all was spared. It was very sad and upsetting to see all of the wreckage," writes Alita Friedman. "We appreciate your patience if you are awaiting information as we do not know when we will be up and running in an office. But we will conduct business by cell phone and email best we can."
