Lottie
LONDON - British Fashion doll, Lottie, sold out in Australia, leaving hundreds of parents on a waitlist demanding the doll for the holidays.
Launched in August, the Lottie doll from Arklu, has already won nin awards in the U.S.A. and U.K. The doll's key point of difference from other fashion dolls is that its body is childlike in dimensions (with the exception of her head). The doll, recommended for girls ages 3 to 9, is not scantily clad, wearing high heels, tattoos or makeup. Extended research went into the creation of Lottie, including expertise from leading British academics, consumer research, parental concerns about other fashion dolls including negative body image, as well as any perceptions of premature sexuality.
Media coverage over the past few days led to unprecendented sales of the dolls in Australia, according to Women's Forum Australia, who sells the doll. More than 600 parents are currently on a waitlist for the doll. "Once the news about Lottie hit the media over the weekend we've just been inundated, said Kristan Dooley, managing director, Women's Forum Australia, in a statement. "There's obviously a strong demand in the market for this. We've had over 4,000 unique visits to our website in the last three days alone."
The Lottie doll will be available in the U.S. for the holiday season and retail for $19.99.
