John Amiri has been named the vice president of sales and marketing of Malibu Creations, a new brand set to launch its debut collection of home décor in January.
Amiri brings with him more than 25 years of experience in the home décor industry and a list of accomplishments, including founding and managing the cornerstone brand Zodax. He also served as a board member for Gift for Life and has held top marketing posts at a number of gift industry companies.
In his new position, Amiri will be overseeing the sales and marketing effort of the brand, day-to-day operations, as well as guiding the creative vision of Malibu Creations.
"I'm thrilled that Malibu Creations has entrusted me with developing the company's brand identity," said Amiri in a statement. "Malibu Creations is poised to fill a gap in the home décor market with stylish home décor accessories and accent furniture at smart prices that allow everyday consumers to decorate their homes without breaking the bank. Malibu Creations will not only be on trend with its debut 2013 collection, but will be a leader in future home décor fashions."
Foreside Home and Garden
Foreside Home and Garden is continuing to grow in 2013. The company has increased its line by 20 percent, launched several new social media platforms and welcomes Amy Monteleone is the new key account sales manager, and Mary Novie as senior merchandise manager.
Foreside also expanded into Canada through an exclusive distribution relationship with the premier home company, Candym, and opened a new design studio in Biddeford, Maine, in addition to expaning its showroom presence last year——joining five new venues in 18 months.
i2i Events Group
i2i Events Group is expanding its presence in North America with the appointment of Katherine Truesdale, new sales manager for the region.
Truesdale has mroe than 20 years of experience, including the management and production of international events, particularly in the textiles, hospitality and consumer goods industries. Prior to joining i2i Events Group, Truesdale spent six years as international sales and marketing manager with Ambiente for Messe Frankfurt and three years as trade show manager of Intima America. Truesdale has also worked with VNU Expositions and Urban Expositions.
As the North America sales manager for i2i Events Group, she will primarily focus on the giftware, fashion, jewelry, home furnishings, and housewares sectors.
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) hired Stephanie Tsacoumis as the new general counsel for CPSC. Tsacoumis began her tenure with the agency on December 10, 2012.
Tsacoumis joins CPSC with more than 25 years of legal experience and has served as vice president and general counsel at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C., from 2009 through 2012. She was responsible for all legal affairs and compliance matters at the university, including health and safety regulations, litigation, federal contracts and grants, and intellectual property. Ms. Tsacoumis was named "Outstanding Chief Legal Officer" in 2011 by Washington Metro Area Corporate Counsel Association and "Non-Profit Lawyer of the Year 2012" by the American Bar Association.
Prior to working at Georgetown University, Tsacoumis was a corporate partner and co-partner in charge at the international law firm Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher LLP. During her time at the firm, she represented government-chartered entities, nonprofit organizations, and top public and private companies in regulatory, advisory, corporate and transactional matters. At the firm, Tsacoumis' helped increase the administrative capacity of the Girl Scouts of the U.S.A. by 50 percent through the implementation of an innovative reorganization that merged 309 local councils into 115 entities.
