Legacy Cards to Help Fight Child Hunger

GDA Staff -- Gifts and Dec, 12/26/2012 11:16:10 AM

CLINTON, MA - Legacy Publishing Group is launching a new card line, BUY A CARD | FEED A CHILD, that will help feed hungry children and families in the United States and around the world. For every full color card purchased, Legacy will donate a portion of the profits to hunger relief organizations to help eliminate childhood hunger and malnutrition.

"We believe this goal can be accomplished in our lifetime. This is something that everyone here at Legacy is truly passionate about and we are committed to this program for the long-haul," stated Legacy's Timothy Cross, vice president-communications.

As a family-owned business, "Families and children have always been central to who we are as a company and as individuals," noted Carlos LLansó, Legacy CEO. "We believe we all have an obligation to make this world a better place, not just for our families, but for families around the world."

Rather than choose a single organization to support, Legacy will select a different non-profit entity each month to receive that month's donation. Criteria for selecting an organization will include whether one of the primary missions of the entity is providing food and clean water to children and families, whether the organization has received a high rating from an independent charity-ratings company, and whether the charity spends the significant majority of donations on programs directly aimed at providing food and nutritional help to children and families.

Retailers who carry one of Legacy's card displays will receive point-of-purchase signage and window decals that will let their customers learn the BUY A CARD | FEED A CHILD story. To keep retailers informed about the donations, Legacy will post on its website each month the organizations supported and the equivalent number of meals the company has provided.

"We've set a fairly lofty goal for our first year," said LLansó. "We hope to provide at least 750,000 meals-worth of donations in 2013."
