UPDATE: Six Universities Participate in Groovystuff Design Challenge

GDA Staff -- Gifts and Dec, 2/22/2013 11:04:40 AM

DALLAS—More than 100 students from four universities are participating in the Groovystuff by Design Challenge for the spring 2013 semester.

Students from the University of Idaho, Southern Illinois University—Carbondale, Columbia College—Chicago, University of Minnesota, North Carolina State University and Appalachian State University will debut their designs at the Spring High Point Market in The University Hall of Innovation & Job Creation-an industry co-operative founded by Chris Bruning founder of Groovystuff that bridges the gap between education and the residential home furnishings industry. It provides students and professors a place to network with retailers, designers, manufacturers, suppliers, journalists and industry professions at the High Point Market, scheduled for April 20-25.

The challenge is endorsed by the universities and sponsored by Groovystuff. Students are required to design an accessory, accent or occasional home furnishings product that utilizes or reconfigures the reclaimed material that exemplifies the Groovystuff product line. The winning design will be included in the Dick Idol Legends brand. Their designs will also be included in the Popular Vote at Market. The winning design from each school will receive a $250 cash prize.
