The British Are Coming!

The Fall Tabletop market focuses on the future of British design.

Edited by Matthew Kalash -- Gifts & Decorative Accessories, 10/1/2001

The 2001 Fall Tabletop Market returns to New York October 27–November 1, at the buildings of the city's permanent showroom coalition: 225 Fifth Avenue, 230 Fifth Avenue, and 41 Madison Avenue. The market will showcase a wide variety of merchandise for every surface in the home, and this fall will feature a special focus on British tabletop design.

225 will partner with 41 Madison and Tableware International America to present an October 29 seminar, "British Tabletop Design: The Shape of Things to Come," at 41 Madison. Continental breakfast will be served at 8 a.m., and the program starts at 8:30.

Select showrooms in both buildings will highlight British products during the market, and buyers visiting those showrooms can enter to win a trip to the United Kingdom, including two round-trip tickets to London on British Airways, a day tour of the Royal Doulton factory, and a two-night stay at St. David's Spa in Wales. The winner will be announced at the seminar, and must be present to win.

Also at 41 Madison, Victoria magazine will create lifestyle vignettes in the lobby using tableware and luxury products from the British Isles. The vignettes will be on display October 27–31. Market-goers will be able to enjoy refreshments at the British Tea Shop on Level A of 41 Madison Avenue, compliments of Bridal Guide magazine.

On October 28, at 5 p.m., 225 will host a demonstration by a gourmet chef Allen Swinson, executive chef at The Complete Angler, during a cocktail reception in the lobby. Buyer amenities offered by 225 during the market will include new buyer orientation for the North of Madison showroom district, as well as a buyer's information lounge with product locator consultants to help buyers navigate the building.

Showrooms at 230 Fifth Avenue will feature a wide variety of tabletop and related products during the New York Tabletop Market. All registered buyers may partake of complimentary continental breakfast and afternoon coffee and snacks in the buyers' lounge.
