  • "Only in New York" retail tour. Saturday, January 19 and Tuesday, January 22. 11:30 a.m.–4 p.m. Take a guided tour of stores in the Big Apple to find out what's selling and what's new in visual merchandising. Tickets are $35 in advance/$40 on site, and include a boxed lunch.
  • "I Love New York" fundraising party. Sunday, January 20, 6:30–8:30 p.m. Enjoy hors d'oeuvres, drinks, music, and entertainment, while networking with industry peers. Attendees will also have the opportunity to take part in a raffle for round trip airline tickets, hotel accommodations, or Broadway tickets. All proceeds will benefit the Twin Towers Fund. Tickets for the party are $50 per person.
  • A Night on Broadway. The Producers at the St. James Theatre. Tuesday, January 22, 8 p.m. Because the demand is high, requests for tickets, which sell for $100 apiece, were entered into a drawing held December 28, 2001. However, ticket requests accompanied by a matching $100 per seat donation to the Twin Towers Fund are being processed on a first-come, first-served basis. Separate checks must be written for "A Night on Broadway" and for the Twin Towers Fund. Call (914) 421-3253.

  • New Buyer Orientation. 9–10 a.m. Speaker: Vicki Hofstetter. All participants will receive the GLM New Buyers Handbook. Tickets are $15 in advance/$20 on site.
  • "Props for Pennies." 11 a.m.–noon. Speaker: Tom Davidson. Tickets are $20 in advance/$25 on site and include refreshments.
  • "Retail Chi." 2–3 p.m. Speaker: Linda Cahan. Tickets are $20 in advance/$25 on site and include refreshments.

Monday, January 21

  • "Home Connections." 9–10:30 a.m. Speaker: Marian McEvoy. Tickets are $20 in advance/$25 on site and include refreshments.
  • "Savvy Shopkeeping." 1–2 p.m. Speaker: Mary Liz Curtin. Tickets are $20 in advance/$25 on site and include refreshments.
  • "Who, What, Where, Why." 3–4 p.m. Speaker: Pam Danziger. Tickets are $20 in advance/$25 on site and include refreshments.

Tuesday, January 22

  • "Trendmeister: Future Forecast." Tickets: $20 in advance/$25 on site.
  • "Communicating Color." 1–2:30 p.m. Speaker: Leatrice Eiseman. Tickets: $20 in advance/$25 on site.

Look For: "Funds for a Future" GLM is instituting a new fundraising campaign to benefit the Twin Towers Fund, which assists the families of fallen members of the New York Fire Department, Police Department, Emergency Medical Services Command, and the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey. GLM will launch this campaign at the NYIGF, holding longstanding events to benefit the fund, as well as presenting new events as fundraising activities. These activities will continue throughout 2002 at GLM shows.

One NYIGF attendee will win two tickets to a Broadway show and a $150 gift certificate to a New York restaurant. For a chance to win, register at the Broadway Giveaway counter in the Javits Center Galleria.

Special Events

  • S-O-S (Saturday Only Specials) Party. January 19, 9 a.m.–4 p.m. at 225 Fifth Ave. Shuttle service available from the Piers directly to 225 all day.
  • "Open Till Late Party." January 21. Each floor of 225 Fifth Ave. will be converted into a different New York neighborhood. Extra shuttle service will be available from Javits, as well as service to select hotels after the party.

Buyer Amenities

  • 225 Fifth Ave. will host a chocolate and wine tasting in the buyer's lounge from 2–4 p.m., each day of the show.
  • 230 Fifth Ave. invites all registered buyers for a complimentary breakfast and afternoon refreshments in the buyer's lounge. Coupons will be available at the front desk.

Shuttle service will be available between the Javits Center and all three gift buildings throughout the show.
