Bear Market

Cherished Teddies marks its tenth.

Meredith Schwartz -- Gifts & Decorative Accessories, 6/1/2002

Enesco kicked off a yearlong celebration of the Cherished Teddies collectibles' tenth anniversary with Enesco chief executive Dan DalleMolle ringing the closing bell at the New York Stock Exchange on March 25. Attendees at the event included company founder Eugene Freedman, chairman of the board Anne-Lee VerVille, eight Cherished Teddies retailers, and other Enesco representatives. Following the bell ringing, Enesco distributed Cherished Teddies figurines to floor traders.

Additional anniversary events are planned throughout the year, including a Collectors Convention scheduled to take place in Chicago this October. It will feature exclusive figurines, an appearance by Cherished Teddies artist Priscilla Hillman, and special activities such as a Masquerade Ball and a Cherished Teddies Day at Wrigley Field. Enesco is also creating and promoting National Take Your Teddy to Work Day, scheduled for October 25 to celebrate Teddy Roosevelt's birthday.

The Cherished Teddies tenth anniversary commemorative limited-edition grouping — Rose, Melinda, Jacki, Christopher, and Friends: Celebrating Ten Cherished Years — is the largest figure ever produced for the collection. It features ten bears, each representing a year in Cherished Teddies history, and retails for $95. All 2002 figurines will feature a tenth anniversary commemorative insert and understamp.
