Walnut Creek, CA — The San Francisco Music Box Company will add five to ten new stores to its 152-store chain within the year. The company will also revitalize current stores under the direction of retail concept designer Richard Altuna. The first prototype store, featuring an oversized metronome with an interactive music listening station, will open later this spring in San Francisco's City Center Mall. "Our new stores will evoke a sense of sentiment with an intimate shopping experience where you can once again find endearing and romantic gifts," said company president and chief executive Curt Gray. Last November, the San Francisco Music Box Co. was acquired from Footlocker Inc. by Kier Group Holdings, a New York–based private investment firm.
