Messe Frankfurt Record Revenues

Frankfurt — Trade fair organizer Messe Frankfurt GmbH reported record group revenues of 318 million euros for the year 2001. The net operating margin was 13 percent, and at 28 million euros, the 2001 profit was the highest in the company's history. During 2001, the company hosted 38 fairs at its facilities in Frankfurt. Outside Germany, the company's subsidiaries operated 48 fairs in Europe, Asia, the U.S., and Africa. The foreign subsidiaries contributed 37 million euros to the group revenues in 2001. Messe Frankfurt board chairman Michael von Zitzewitz noted that the company will continue to emphasize worldwide growth by launching more of its own events and buying foreign fairs. The company recently purchased trade fair organizer EPOC, based in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
