TPS Warns About 'Fair Guide'

London — Trade Promotion Services (TPS), organizers of the Birmingham, U.K., gift and home shows, are warning exhibitors to read the fine print before signing up for "The Exhibitors Fair Guide." The guide is promoted by Construct Data Verlag of Austria, which is mailing forms listing exhibitor company names and addresses, and stating that they are registered under "Birmingham Autumn Fair" or "Birmingham Spring Fair." By signing the form, exhibitors will be listed in the "Fair Guide" Web site for three years at a cost of $1,023 per year. "The Exhibitors Fair Guide has nothing to do with TPS, or the trade shows we organize. Although there is a disclaimer to that effect, it is not immediately evident and could easily be missed," said TPS chair and managing director David Metcalfe.
