Rep group OneCoast Network announced the winners of its 2003 "Getaway with OneCoast" sweepstakes drawing. Winners were Susie Peznowski of Classy Country in Lubbock, TX; Janet Perry of The Elegant Home in Mooresville, NC; Carolyn Tunison of Beach Bites in Seaside, OR; and Craig Weidenheimer of Pickering & Simmons in Edison, NJ. Each will have their choice of a deluxe vacation for two at one of several coastal resort destinations.
To commemorate its 40th anniversary, Roman Inc., Roselle, IL, will institute the Forty Wishes for Forty Years program, which grants the wishes of 40 youngsters facing extraordinary challenges. The company has raised $33,000 of the estimated $100,000–$150,000 that will be needed to fund the program.
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission banned the manufacture and sale of lead-core wicks and candles with such wicks, as they could present a lead poisoning hazard to children. The ban applies to all domestic and imported candles.
The Baldwin Hardware Corp., Reading, PA, promoted company veteran Mike Babula to vice president of sales. He becomes the company's principal sales exec, with responsibility for its multiple selling organizations.
Merchandise Mart Properties Inc. appointed Richard T. Norfolk property manager of Chicago's Merchandise Mart. He is responsible for upkeep and maintenance of the Mart building.
JPMA, the Juvenile Products Manufacturers Association named Robert Waller Jr. president and William MacMillan management advisor.
LIMA, the International Licensing Merchandisers' Association, will induct Beverly Cannady, creator of the Mattel licensing department, and Lois Sloane, proponent of licensing classic film archives, into the Murray Altchuler Licensing Hall of Fame at a gala on June 11 at the Sheraton New York Hotel.
