Lillian August Garners 2004 ARTS Award

By Staff -- Gifts & Decorative Accessories, 10/1/2003

Dallas — The Accessories Resource Team (ART) and the Dallas Market Center (DMC) will present designer Lillian August the Academy of Achievement award at the 15th annual ARTS Awards gala, January 17, 2004, at the DMC. The award honors an individual in the home decorative accessories industry for entrepreneurial spirit and contributions to the industry. Lillian August began her design career with a wholesale quilt business in Louisville, KY. From there, she quickly expanded into a wall coverings and fabrics collection. Later, Lillian moved to New York and was joined in the business by her three sons, Daniel, John, and Michael Weiss. Today the Lillian August Collection, designed for Drexel Heritage furniture, is sold internationally, and the family also owns five Lillian August Collection retail stores in Connecticut. "No one personifies the spirit of this award more than Lillian August," said Bill Winsor, DMC's president and chief executive. The awards event will take place during the Dallas International Gift and Home Accessories Market.
