By Staff -- Gifts & Decorative Accessories, 12/1/2004
St. Paul, MN — A 700-square-foot Department 56 retail shop recently opened in the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport. The first airport retail venture for Dept. 56 (the company operates six retail stores in malls across the country), the new location sells holiday and gift accessories for collectors and casual shoppers alike. More than a year in planning, the concept, by airport retail developer CBR Inc., will be rolled out to other airports in the near future, according to CBR senior vice president, Jim Stelton. CBR will look for spaces in the 600–1,000-square-foot range for future Dept. 56 airport stores.
