CERF Helps Craftspeople in Need
-- Gifts & Decorative Accessories, 11/1/2000
Montpelier, VT-A total of 62 galleries across the country raised approximately $15,000 during September in the fourth annual Craft Emergency Relief Fund (CERF) event, A Month for CERF. CERF is an organization that helps professional craftspeople recover from career-threatening emergencies. Galleries that participated in A Month for CERF organized and hosted a range of activities, including sidewalk sales, raffles, silent auctions, One Percent for CERF Month, and Ten Percent for CERF Day. CERF also launched the Lend a Hand program to support craftspeople facing difficult times. Lend a Hand members make an annual, tax-deductible donation of at least $100, donate or offer discounts on products or services to craftspeople referred to them by CERF, and refer craftspeople to CERF. To date, 57 businesses have become charter members of the Lend a Hand program. The next A Month for CERF will be September 2001.
