The Supply Side Joins NSS

Staff -- Gifts & Decorative Accessories, 11/1/2000

George Little Management Inc. (GLM) will launch The Supply Side: An Exposition Showcasing Suppliers to the Social Stationery Industry. The Supply Side, featuring exhibitions by suppliers to publishers of social stationery products, will be presented May 22-23, 2001, in Hall 1E at New York's Jacob K. Javits Convention Center. The exposition will be introduced in conjunction with the National Stationery Show (NSS), May 20-23. Patti Stracher, vice president of GLM, will manage both events. The Supply Side is sponsored by the Greeting Card Association (GCA). According to GLM executive vice president Jack Withiam, The Supply Side is an adaptation of The GCA Tech Expo, a vendor event previously produced by the GCA at the association's convention. Withiam explained that this kind of supplier-directed event is best positioned with the NSS, because the show attracts a "critical mass" of publishers and manufacturers in the social stationery industry. GCA executive vice president, Marianne McDermott, stated, "We are confident that this positioning will be a key service to the GCA supplier members, as well as a benefit to the supplier segment of our industry at large." • Doubletake- Stationery: Going for the Green
The Green message was delivered loud and clear across all product categories. The stationery industry is really embracing the concept and helping to move it forward. And the best thing about the new “green”? It doesn’t look it!
  • Doubletake- Stationery: Eco Totes
A subset of the eco message is the call to arms for consumers to use their own bags when shopping. Sturdy reusable shopping totes were much in evidence as an eco-fashion statement.
  • Doubletake-Stationery: Birds
Gifts & Decorative Accessories previously noted the widespread presence of peacocks & peacock-related motifs on tabletop, home décor & other gift items. In stationery, it’s not just peacocks, but birds of all feathers.
