Gift for Life Gala to Honor Raymond Waites

Gift for Life, the gift and home decor industry's volunteer group raising funds for AIDS research, will honor designer Raymond Waites with its Chuck Yancy lifetime achievement award during its 13th annual gala fundraiser, May 16. Other honorees will be home decor vendor Demdaco (for outstanding industry achievement), and Gerry Siebel of the L.A. Mart and MMPI's Joan Ulrich (Bert Tonkin gift of giving awards). The festivities take place from 6 to 10 p.m. at New York's Copacabana club, and include a buffet dinner, cocktails, and the music of the Ray Charles tribute band, Ray of Light. Silent and live auctions will also be held, with Demdaco matching all auction monies raised (up to $75,000). Designer Kenneth Cole will give the opening remarks. Tickets are $125 each; or $5,000 for a reserved table of ten. All proceeds go to amfAR, the American Foundation for AIDS Research.
