Goodwin Weavers Becomes Part of Mohawk Industries

Blowing Rock, NC -Mohawk Industries Inc. has signed a definitive agreement to acquire virtually all of the assets of the Wovens Division of Crown Crafts Inc., including the assets of Goodwin Weavers, the producer of woven throws, pillows, and other home accessories marketed primarily to the gift industry. Mohawk is a leading producer of woven and tufted broadloom carpet and rugs for residential and commercial applications. The company designs, manufactures, and markets carpet in a broad range of colors, textures, and patterns through its premier brand names. In a statement, Mohawk Industries COO Jeffrey S. Loberbaum said, "In addition to providing growth for existing product lines in our rug and textile division, this acquisition will give us the ability to expand into other product lines." The acquisition was expected to close by mid-November.
