Boyds Reports 3Q Numbers

Gettysburg, PA-The Boyds Collection Ltd. reported its financial results for the third quarter and the first nine months of 2000. Net sales for the third quarter were $59.4 million dollars, compared to $59.3 million for the same period last year. Net income, before an extraordinary item, for the third quarter of 2000 was $15 million, compared to $18.9 million in 1999. For the first nine months of 2000, net sales were $150.9 million and net income $39.3 million, compared to $160.2 million and a pro forma net income of $50.1 million for 1999. CEO Jean-Andre Rougeot stated, "The continuing vitality of the Boyds brand, as well as the strengthening of our relationship with the dealer network, gives me confidence that following the 2000 transition year Boyds will be able to resume growth." For the full year 2000, the company expects sales of approximately $190 million.
