SURTEX Student Competition
Staff -- Gifts & Decorative Accessories, 1/1/2001
The theme of the 2001 SURTEX International Student Design Competition will be "Celebrate." The competition is open to all students enrolled in art and design programs during the semester of entry. For this year's competition, students are challenged to create surface designs for a variety of products reflecting the celebration of their choice, such as a birthday, wedding, graduation, or holiday. Students must consider all of the fictional client's needs, innovating while keeping market objectives in focus. The deadline for entries is February 5. The first prize winner will receive $500 and a trip to SURTEX 2001, including airfare and accommodations, plus a one-week internship. Second- and third-place winners will receive $250 and $150, respectively. Finalists will be displayed at the show, May 20-22, at New York's Javits Convention Ctr.
