Tale of Two Styles
A pair of cities as different as bling and heirloom have a similar customer base.

Las Vegas, Nevada, and Greenwich, Connecticut, are two cities as different as their geographic locations. “What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas” is the new slogan for the desert tourist destination, while Greenwich CEOs worry more about government agencies investigating corporate financial statements. What both cities have in common is an affluent customer base; while the ready cash may ebb and flow in Las Vegas, it remains fairly steady in Greenwich.
The two stores profiled in this article and my next attract the same affluent customer yet are worlds apart in their visual merchandising, design style, and merchandise mix.
Nambé in Las Vegas and Nesting in Greenwich both carry gift items that encourage slow browsing. Nesting is a “hunt and peck” store that looks crowded upon entry, sorts itself out into small vignettes of related, interesting merchandise.
The following photos of Nambé show a beautifully designed store with flowing lines, fabulous lighting, and a clean, clear palette for their special line of gift and home products. Photos of Nesting will appear in my next article. Enjoy the comparison/contrast.
