Mart Expands Collegiate Licensing

By Staff -- Gifts & Decorative Accessories, 5/19/2006 8:37:00 AM

Atlanta —  AmericasMart and the Collegiate Licensing Company (CLC) agency are again joining forces to expand the Atlanta International Gift & Home Furnishings Market’s Collegiate License Product Pavilion.

The Pavilion will be housed on the third floor in July, but in January 2007 will move to the fifth floor, where it will double in size, to 100 exhibitors in 10,000 square feet from the current 60 exhibitors in 4,500 square feet.

More than 50,000 stores carry collegiate product, which generates approximately $2.8 billion in sales, a growing portion of which is in the gift and related industries.

Non-apparel products now account for more than 37 percent of CLC royalties, according to the company. Of those, the fastest growing categories are office products, infant products, accessories, school supplies and domestics.

The top five royalty generating non-apparel categories were video games, furniture and home furnishings, domestics, gifts and novelties and housewares.
