2 Cents Worth of Feedback — Celebrities

By Staff -- Gifts & Decorative Accessories, 3/1/2007 6:00:00 AM

March 7, 2007 — Anna, Britney, Brangelina…

Last week’s poll asked readers whether or not American culture puts too much emphasis on the comings and goings of celebrities, and readers answered with an unequivocal YES! (See the second comment below.) A robust majority of more than 72 percent answered that the amount of attention celebrities are paid “gets on their nerves.” Meanwhile, a combined 15 percent said it was either a “guilty pleasure” or “harmless fun,” and another 12 percent said they just don’t care. Who’s this Brangelina anyway?

Well, I spent the last three weeks listening to idiotic reports and commentary on Anna Nicole and Britney. I ask, is this NEWS?

Who cares? Why do they keep reporting it? Seems like there are big environmental, social and war issues, we must not want to learn more, or "they" wouldn't be spending so much time repeating it. If we don’t like it we should write and SAY SO.

We get the government (and apparently, the news) that we as a public tolerate, and therefore must deserve.

  • Doubletake- Stationery: Going for the Green
The Green message was delivered loud and clear across all product categories. The stationery industry is really embracing the concept and helping to move it forward. And the best thing about the new “green”? It doesn’t look it!
  • Doubletake- Stationery: Eco Totes
A subset of the eco message is the call to arms for consumers to use their own bags when shopping. Sturdy reusable shopping totes were much in evidence as an eco-fashion statement.
